My husband and I first met Dr. Anupam at Aravalli Golf Club, Faridabad and played a round of Golf with him. Over the next couple of weeks, we got the opportunity to play additional rounds with him and have lunch together. When he realized that I am diabetic, he told his own personal story and his victory over diabetes.
We were impressed by how he reversed his type 2 diabetes and I was struggling with type 2 diabetes. At that time, I was taking Gluconorm G 3mg Forte, Metformin 1000mg along with 28 units of Insulin twice daily.
He got ready to coach me but he asked me that he will coach only if I will follow his instructions and that I will not loose ‘will power’ and stop this regime midway.
Getting past diabetes is not simple and it is not a destination, it is a difficult journey that continues forever, you have to change your lifestyle forever. The key things to remember is that this will not be fixed overnight and you can’t return back to your bad habits (though there can be cheat days) and it is very important to have a great coach. This journey includes intermittent fasting, changing your eating habits, changing your diet, etc.
Dr. Anupam is very religious in what he does, he was more enthusiastic in fixing my problem than I was – you don’t see that in every doctor. He used to talk to me every day (and he continues to do that till date) – even when he was on vacation or while I was in the US (visiting my son) on vacation. He takes stats every day, customizes the diet plan accordingly and encourages/educates on good and bad habits.
After 3 months, my sugar level started decreasing and I had to take lesser units of insulin. After about a year, I was completely insulin independent. And now, after losing 15 kg, I have cut down my diabetes medicine dosage as well – it is at 50% i.e. I take the medicines once daily.
It would not have been possible without the guidance and education that I received from Dr. Anupam – he is not just a professional doctor but he guides you as a family member. He is now a very good friend of ours and we are very thankful to God that he sent him and arranged that we would meet him one day.
I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and was overweight. Initially was on oral anti-diabetes drugs for a couple of weeks. Due to the medications, I experienced adverse effects, thus I decided to completely STOP my medications. This was a turning point in my life. I started following a low-carb high fat diet. Within 3 months of following this diet, I was able to control my blood sugar level. In one year I was able to REVERSE my type 2 diabetes.
When it comes to weight loss, a healthy diet and exercise is your best friend. If you haven’t exercised for a long time and are very out of shape, start out by exercising for just 10 minutes a day and add on over time to build up to 30 minutes to an hour every day. Do both aerobic exercise (like walking, swimming, and cycling) and anaerobic exercise (resistance training, weight lifting) for best results. Aerobic exercise has many benefits: it improves insulin sensitivity, strengthens your heart, gives you more energy, and much more.
